1. Deep Creek Lake
Deep Creek Lake. Located just 15 to 20 minutes from Cranesville Country Rentals. Deep Creek Lake offers four seasons of activities. Enjoy boating, fishing, swimming, rafting, hiking, mini golf, horseback riding, skiing, ice skating, tubing and much more.
Deep Creek Lake is the largest man made inland body of water in the U.S. state of Maryland. It covers approximately 3,900 acres and has 69 miles of shoreline. The lake is home to a wide variety of freshwater fish and aquatic birds.
2. Swallow Falls State Park
Swallow Falls State Park. This mountain park is located nine miles north of Oakland, at 2470 Maple Glen Road, Oakland, Maryland. Take in some of Maryland’s most breathtaking scenery.
The Youghiogheny River flows along the park’s boarders, passing through shaded rocky gorges and creating rippling rapids. Muddy Creek Falls is a crashing 53-foot waterfall, a spectacular sight. Tall hemlocks dominate the woods. The trail to the falls is 1 1/4 miles.
3. Herrington Manor State Park
Herrington Manor State Park located at 222 Herrington lane, Oakland, MD. The Park is a public recreation area on 365 acres in Garrett County, Maryland. The focal point of the state park is a 53-acre Herrington lake.
Herrington Manor State Park is located within Garrett State Forrest offering swimming, canoeing, kayaking, picnicking, hiking, tennis, basketball and volleyball.
In addition to activities, the lake provides a stop over habitat for migrating waterfowl. Plentiful fish provide ample food for nesting Bald Eagles and Osprey. Twelve miles of trails throughout the park take birders through prime habitat for birds of the northern hardwood forest.
4. Blackwater Falls State Park
Blackwater Falls State Park is located in the Allegheny Mountains of Tucker County, West Virginia. Follow directions to 1584 Blackwater Lodge Road, Davis, WV 26260.

The main attraction to the park is a 62 foot cascade where the Blackwater River leaves its course in Canaan Valley and enters rugged Blackwater Canyon
The park is named for the amber colored waters of the Blackwater Falls.
Enjoy activities such as boating, camping, fishing, hiking, snow sports and swimming. Dine at the lodge restaurant, “The Smokehouse”, open daily.
5. Designated Off-Road Vehicle Trails
You’ve got the ultimate 4WD vehicle that will take you off road? There are many options near Cranesville Country Rentals.

Snaggy Mountain ORV Trail, Piney Mountain ORV Trail and Garrett State Forest ORV Trails are to name a few. Be sure to stay safe and obey the rules.
6. Mountain Trail Biking
The Cranesville offers many choices for the sport of mountain biking. One popular spot is Deep Creek Lake State Park. There are 4 trails including 3 easy and 1 intermediate totaling 9 miles of trail.

Big Bear Lake located in the Appalachian Mountains of West Virginia also offers trails developed by experienced mountain bikers. The terrain has everything to offer.
7. Ohiopyle State Park
Ohiopyle State Park is well worth the 45 minute drive. Located at 124 Main Street, Ohiopyle, PA. The park is approximately 20,500 acres of rugged beauty and serves as the gateway to the Laurel Highlands.
Activities include hiking, biking, mountain biking, horse riding, picnicking, whitewater, fishing, hunting, rock climbing, cross country skiing, snowmobiling, sledding and wildlife watch.
The park is open every day of the year, sunrise to sunset. Day use areas close at dusk.
8. Coopers Rock State Forest
It’s all about the views.
Coopers Rock State Forest is located off Interstate 68 at 61 County Line Drive, Bruceton Mills, WV. The park offers spectacular views from enormous boulders and cliffs.
Activities include biking, fishing, hiking and hutning.
9. Deep Creek Lavender Farm
Open seasonally Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend.
Located at 625 Doerr Road, Accident, MD
The farm currently has nearly 1500 lavender plants with 15 different varieties of English lavender in shades of purple, white, and pink.
The farm store has a selection of lavender products including eye masks, neck wraps, quilts, body products, candles, lavender jams and jellies, plants and much more.
10. Fallingwater
